Data storage challenges addressed with HPE solutions
Enterprises today deal with more information than ever before. Whether located within business apps, databases, documents or other platforms, the bulk of this data is very much mission-critical, helping to support daily processes, customer services and analytics initiatives. However, as the amount of raw information that businesses deal with continues to grow, companies have their work cut out for them when it comes to storage.
Thankfully, iT1 Source and our partner Hewlett Packard Enterprise are here to help with industry-leading storage solutions for every corporate need. Today, we’ll take a look at the data storage challenges many enterprises are facing, and how HPE’s solutions can help.
Big data: Getting bigger by the day
Big data is just one of the sources businesses deal with, but it is one of the fastest growing. This can create unique pain points that must be addressed should companies seek to leverage this information as part of analytics efforts or other important initiatives.
“By 2020, 1.7 megabytes of information will be created every second.”
Forbes contributor Bernard Marr noted that the volume of data has skyrocketed recently. In fact, more data has been created over the past two years than ever before in human history. By 2020, 1.7 megabytes of information will be created every second for every person on the planet. What’s more, within the next five years, there will be 6.1 billion smartphone users, and more than 50 billion smart devices able to create, gather, analyze and share information.
The insights that this information can provide are nearly endless, providing considerable possibilities for companies in a position to collect, store and leverage these details as part of an analytics initiative. However, the right storage is needed to form the backbone for such projects.
Compounding the problem: Scalability
However, the sheer volume of data isn’t the only problem here – the fact that it’s growing at such a rapid rate is creating additional challenges as well.

In order to keep up, today’s companies need incredibly scalable storage solutions that can support their increasingly expanding needs. In this way, businesses are afforded space for their current data, and have room to add to their repositories in the future.
The price of scalable storage
However, finding such a solution usually doesn’t come without a high price. In fact, a study from Tech Pro Research found that the cost of storage is the top pain point faced by businesses today. Of the survey’s 125 enterprise professional respondents, around 68 percent of them identified cost as the top challenge needing to be addressed within their company. This was closely followed by surging storage capacity needs, as identified by 52 percent of business professionals.
“[C]ompanies are looking for ways to better manage their storage needs and not just throw money at them,” Tech Pro Research’s Teena Maddox noted.
